Why is SHINE Support needed?
The trauma from psychedelic harm can be confusing and disorienting due to the altered states of consciousness while the traumatic incident occurred. The complexity of psychedelic trauma fosters a lack of trust in community and healing systems at a core humanistic level. For survivors, it may take a long time to grasp the depth at which they have been harmed.
It is important to acknowledge that the current psychedelic provider reporting and criminal justice systems are confusing, tedious, haven’t been developed yet, span international borders and oftentimes fail to provide any sort of justice or protection to survivors who choose to pursue criminal or legal charges against their abusers. More often, survivors are retraumatized and assume great personal, social, professional and financial risks if they come forward to share their lived experiences.

Important Legal / Medical Disclaimer Information
SHINE Support Groups offer confidential peer-support groups for individuals who are looking for community support. For the protection of our group members, pre-enrollment and intake screening is mandatory for participation. To ensure the safety and privacy of our peer group participants and facilitators, we strongly encourage all participants to be actively working with a mental health professional or support person of their choosing and have a safety plan in case of emergency.
We recognize that our programming is limited by multiple contributing factors, including funding, privacy concerns, and access. SHINE is continuously striving to create diverse, inclusive, trauma-informed communities for all identities.
SHINE Collective does not offer any professional legal, medical, or psychotherapy services. We are a community-based organization that provides peer support and education to survivors of psychedelic harm and people working in the field of psychedelics. We do not function as reporting agency for any criminal or assaultive actions. We offer confidential support to survivors of psychedelic harm and support each individual to make self-determined decisions in pursing legal action.
