About SHINE Collective

Mission

To provide support, resources, and education to survivors of abuse within psychedelic communities

To provide education and consultation to individuals, communities and organizations around ethical care, restorative justice and human rights in non-ordinary states of consciousness (NOSC)

Vision

We envision a world where people can access healing through non-ordinary states of consciousness (NOSC) with safety, dignity and respect.

For those who have experienced harm through coercion, manipulation or abuse; we aim to provide a forum where survivors and their loved ones can come together and learn, share, and grow.

Our story

SHINE Collective was born out of the vital community need for supporting those who have been harmed in psychedelic spaces.

As psychedelic use increases, the potential for both healing and harm increases. Psychedelics have incredible potential for treating depression, anxiety, and trauma. They are helping us understand human consciousness, reconnecting us with the planet, and connecting us with sacred and spiritual practices.

People who seek healing through psychedelic medicine paths deserve dignity and respect. A space to reconnect to themselves, a place to heal, free of harm through abuse, assault, coercion or manipulation.

As more miraculous stories of psychedelic healing are told on podcasts, in magazines, and at conferences;

  • There are survivors of sexual assault from psychedelic practitioners that deserve to be heard.

  • There are stories of loved ones dying from psychedelic-related accidents that deserve to be heard.

  • There are practitioners who are raising genuine concerns about ethics, coercion, suggestibility and psychedelics that deserve to be heard.

As more survivors begin to come forward and share their stories, the more need there is for compassionate support systems that understand the complexities of psychedelic harm.

SHINE Collective aims to create peer-led, no-cost, community-based support groups for survivors of psychedelic harm and their communities.

Through our PACE program, we will develop a working, living document on ethical guidelines and considerations for working with altered states of consciousness.

SHINE’s Education program will help the psychedelic community learn about risk reduction through workshops and content focused on ethics, power dynamics, restorative justice, equity and human rights.
